Spain, 2008 - Itinerary

Tuesday, March 18 -
Depart from COCC
Campus. Bus to Portland Airport. Fly to Madrid.

Wednesday, March 19
- Arrive in
Madrid. Bus to Bilbao. Stop at Historic Burgos—the homeland of El Cid..
Arrive at 4-star hotel overlooking Bilbao.


Thursday, March 20 -
Visit the rugged
coastline and beautiful beaches of the Bay of Biscay on the Atlantic Ocean.

Friday, March 21 -
Optional 3-hour,
hands-on Culinary Class. The class will be taught by English speaking,
certified trainers and featuring the local Basque Cuisine. In the
afternoon we will visit the world-famous Guggenheim Museum.


Saturday, March 22 -
Day trip over
the border to the sandy beaches of Biarritz, France for the day. Stop in
the touristy hot spot of San Sebastian on the return.

Sunday, March 23 -
Visit the town
of Guernica—subject of the famous painting by Pablo Picasso. Continue to
the rocky cliffs of
San Juan de
Gaztelugatxe, on the Biscayan coast.


Monday, March 24 -
Another optional
3-hour, hands-on Culinary Class. The class will be taught by English
speaking, certified trainers and featuring the local Basque Cuisine.

Tuesday, March 25 -
Bus back to
Madrid. Stop at Segovia. Visit the castle that inspired Walt Disney’s Snow
White Castle—birthplace and home of Queen Isabella. Also visit one of the
largest and best preserved Roman aqueducts in the world.


Wednesday, March 26
- Spend all day
in the old section of Madrid, or visit the Prado Museum—one of the most
impressive museums in the world—or
go to Toledo. The possibilities here are endless.



Thursday, March 27 -
Bus to the
airport in Madrid and return trip to Bend.
